Following an intense personal tragedy, Elizabeth went abroad to Europe. And much to everyone’s surprise, she decided to stay in Great Britain and restart her acting career. A combination of an inspiring art community and intense personal relationships kept her there.

Dr. Angela V. John wrote a comprehensive biography of Elizabeth, entitled Elizabeth Robins: Staging a Life: 1862-1952 thirty years ago. In discussing Elizabeth’s life in Great Britain, it only made sense to interview Dr. John and gain insight into one of the scholars who knows her best. She shared some ways Elizabeth is still honored in England today.
